Trainpics: DSB EG3103 in the Frankenwald

The "Eurosprinter-concept" of Siemens has produced quite a number of different types by now, which are in use not only in Germany (127 001, BR 152), but also in Austria (1016, 1116), Spain and Portugal. The newest variation of the Eurosprinter-type is class EG of the Danish rail freight company DSB Gods. The locomotives of the EG 3100-series will be used for transit freight-trains through Denmark via the Øresund and the Great Belt between Malmö in Sweden and the German/Danish border.
As any other new locomotive, the EGs have to perform a large number of test runs before entering the revenue-earning service.

On April 16th, 2000, EG3103 was operating on a test-train between Probstzella and Pressig-Rothenkirchen in the Frankenwald in Northern Bavaria. The 1.000 ton train was stopped in the gradient and started again, thus allowing to optimize the traction-software of the EG. On the other end of the train, 152 082 was attached, which hauled the train back to Probstzella after each test-run.
